Graph Based Characterization of Distributed Applications Markus Braun, Gabriele Kotsis Institute of Applied Computer Science and Information Systems University of Vienna Lenaugasse 2/8, A-1080 Wien, Osterreich [braunjgabi]@ani.univie.ac.at Abstract| Timed Structural Parallelism Graph (TSPG) have been proposed as a graph model representing the coarse grain dependency and communication structure of a distributed application. In this report, we investigate techniques for deriving performance indices for distributed applications represented as TSPG. The work focuses on the computational complexity of the evaluation techniques and on the accuracy and expressiveness of the derived performance indices.

An Improved Token-Based and Starvation Free Distributed Mutual Exclusion Algorithm

Distributed mutual exclusion is a fundamental problem of distributed systems that coordinates the access to critical shared resources. It concerns with how the various distributed processes access to the shared resources in a mutually exclusive manner. This paper presents fully distributed improved token based mutual exclusion algorithm for distributed system. In this algorithm, a process which...
